Sitework

Preparing a site for construction begins with a focus on environmental responsibility.

Erosion Control

Through a number of different channels we control water or wind erosion throughout construction. By preserving existing natural erosion barriers, terracing or benching steep slopes, and protecting the site with silt fencing - a temporary permeable fabric barrier, sediment will settle from runoff before water leaves the construction site. To protect the natural environment from damage during construction, Hedrick Grading & Paving installs temporary drives for construction sites. And finally, retaining walls slow or prevent runoff of rain or irrigation waters from carrying away your soil and prevent oversaturation that can damage the site's trees.

Tree Protection

After they are marked for preservation and barricaded for protection, select trees - and their feeder roots - are protected by sturdy, high visibility safety fencing.

Land Clearing

Industrial mowers, bushhogs, and heavy equipment are used to trim back or clear trees and brush from planned areas, preparing the site for construction. Throughout construction we maintain the site's remaining vegetation.

Site Utilities

Installation of site utilities like industrial waste lines, force mains, water lines, large diameter pipe, and sanitary and storm sewer systems is required at the early preparation phase of a site. Hedrick Grading & Paving works with engineers, planners and developers to ensure proper placement of all utilities.

Grading

Reshaping the ground’s surface to planned grades, following the engineering survey evaluation and layout provides more suitable topography for construction, controls surface runoff and minimizes soil erosion and sedimentation both during and after construction.

Earthwork

Topsoil and sand are added, moved or removed in preparation of the construction site. Adjustments to the topography, whether minor or major, are a critical part of the construction process.

Storm Drainage

Where runoff from construction sites enters drain inlets, drop inlets, and curb inlets, Hedrick Grading & Paving installs inlet protection devices - like temporary sediment trapping barriers - to reduce sediment from entering storm drains.

 Detention Facilities

To control storm water runoff, provide temporary storage, and control storm water release to downstream areas, artificial flow control structures contain flood water for a limited period of a time. Hedrick Grading & Paving constructs above ground detention basins - short-term storm water storage facilities - like wet ponds.

 Lot Preparation

To prepare lots for construction, Hedrick Grading & Paving clears lots, installs construction driveways and underground utilities

 Paving

Hedrick Grading & Paving prepares a site for both foot and vehicle traffic through standard paving services. From concrete curb and sidewalk installation, to street paving, professional installation is a hallmark of Hedrick Grading & Paving.

Concrete Curbs

Using a slip form casting machine, Hedrick Grading & Paving constructs concrete curbs on sites where raised pavement, a sidewalk, footpath, road median, or road shoulder meets an unraised roadway. Curbs serve both as a gutter for proper drainage of the roadway, and to keep motorists from driving onto the shoulder, median, sidewalk, or pavement.

Stone Base

Although some 'full depth' pavements are built directly on the native subgrade, most asphalt pavements are built on a gravel base layer. Hedrick Grading & Paving installs the appropriate base prior to paving.

 Asphalt Surface

Hedrick Grading & Paving has provided asphalt paving services for over 10 years - on roads, parking areas, and common areas. The actual material - HMA (Hot Mix Asphalt - is applied using a free floating screed. Asphalt roadways produce low noise, are relatively low cost compared with other paving methods, and are easy to repair.

Sidewalks

Installation of sidewalks in planned foot traffic areas of sites requires a knowledgeable construction company. While sidewalks can be made of many materials, Hedrick Grading & Paving specializes in poured concrete walkways. Cross-lying strain relief grooves minimize visible damage or cracks from tectonic and temperature fluctuations. Freeze-thaw cycles and tree root growth are taken into consideration, when planning for sidewalk installation
